Google does social searching
Google just rolled out Social Search , a new experiment in providing better or more relevant results. You join the experiment through google.com/experimental  In addition to the usual results, if you click the "show options" link at the top of the search results page, you'll see an option for Social. Google Reader.

Google Rolling Out Social Search: But Does It Leverage Facebook?
Forget the iPad, today Google is taking another step toward its stated goal of " making search more social." Put simply: I can't figure out if this new service uses my Facebook social graph. We're leaving a "beta" label on social results because we know there's a lot more we can do. And to my mind, that's a problem.

Twitter - The Infrastructure of Context-Driven Social Search, or Flash in the Pan ?
For the most part I have been ambivalent about Twitter for most of the past two years (I’ve used it on and off since November 2006). What seems clear to me is that it can often function as an effective means for searching for pertinent information. He says Twitter won’t be as important as some think. Snip. ].
