[LinkedIn, Social Network] Using social media to track and drive organizational success metrics
This week I was MC for the AHRI HR Technology conference , and ran one of the workshops on the following day, on Creating Results Using Social Media. A real highlight of the conference was the Social Media: Risks and Rewards panel, which I chaired, with the participation of a fantastic cast of Peter Williams of Deloitte, Steve Barham of LinkedIn, Laurel Papworth of The Community Crew, and Sam Mutimer of ThinkTank Media. Get going with social media.

[LinkedIn, Social Network] Outlook Social Connector: Trust But Verify
Lots of new features (see source post for more info and screen shots) - but given how badly I think the RSS engine was built in Outlook 2007 (the first "social" extension to Outlook perhaps), I'll take a "wait and see" perspective re: user experience and performance. Also, how shareable is the social data with other applications (within security and privacy controls). The Outlook Social Connector (OSC) brings social views of your colleagues and friends right to your Inbox.

[LinkedIn, Social Network] Breaking: Google+ will be a reputation engine
The social media measurement systems such as Klout and PeerIndex have limited data scope and while they talk the language of reputation actually measure influence. In developing the service and discussing it with VCs, we have always seen the most obvious latent competitors in the reputation measurement space as Google and LinkedIn. LinkedIn’s recommendation service is a long way from a true reputation service, but it provides a foundation for building one.
