Learnings on Work Literacy Skills

In a comment on a previous post, Virginia Yonkers mentioned that she’d learned a lot about the intersection of knowledge workers, new work literacy skills and technology during a course she taught in the spring. I suggested that it would be great if she could share some of what she learned, which she’s most generously done in this post, Lessons Learned from New Communication Technologies in Organizational Life.

Some interesting ideas here about the kinds of skills the group identified as being critical, their observations about how social media changes work processes and how these tools might function in various organizational structures.  This is some “down in the trenches” reflection that’s definitely worth a look. Thanks to Virginia, for taking the time to write this up and share with the community. Good stuff to keep the conversations moving.
