The people at Personal Kanban posted an article that referenced "coffee" that has been sitting in my queue, waiting for an opportune moment to comment. However, being a personal effectiveness aficionado, it isn't about how much fun one gets from coffee. It's the reason that many people claim to drink coffee -- to get that boost from the caffeine.

Once at our final surprise destination, the evening will continue with a casual party and plenty of delicious treats to enjoy for dinner. The Vivid Sydney festival is a big deal: it’s when the harbour is clothed in glorious light throughout the night. To make the most of this unique event, we shifted the conference back a week this year to line everything up.

[Delicious] Week 4 – the gears are clicking
Lisa joined us for an hour or so and gave us the drop on working life on the great operatic stages of the world – with a few delicious tidbits on the lifestyles of the rich and famous operatic stars thrown in. Waking early today into the light in the sky. It’s high summer and my diurnal rhythms seem to be in sync with the bigger picture. Eyes open, into awareness, and the low-level adrenaline that’s come to be part of my life, kicks into play.

[Delicious] Week 1 Done … no dust
This week has been broken a bit by public holidays, and so we finished the first of what constituted the rehearsal week on Saturday; it felt like a Friday all day, of course, and with lots of delicious cakes and even a Christmas stollen on the tea table. The last time I turned up to work on a Saturday morning was back in high school when I did a weekly pocket-money stint at Coles in my hometown.

[Delicious] New Orleans Fall Festivals: Cops2 Blues and Oak Street Poboy
We had some delicious catfish with onion sauce, yellow rice, corn on the cobs and a croissant. Every year the weekend before Thanksgiving brings us two great free festivals, Cops2 Blues and Oak Street Poboy. This year we saw Jon Cleary do his solo act of old school New Orleans R&B at the Cops 2 Festival on Saturday November 21. Jon provided a high energy set despite the rain or perhaps to reward those who stayed. You can see one of Jon’s young fans below.

[Delicious] This food quality startup ruined Thanksgiving by analyzing turkey products
Others look for stuffing recipes, and or how to cook a delicious bird. There are many ways for tech companies to ruin Thanksgiving dinner. Facebook could send a push notification to all your relatives to remind them about petty arguments had over the last year. Apple could release a novelty ringtone no-one but your creepy uncle will enjoy. Someone might ask you to explain Snapchat. Or they could just analyze the brands of turkey available in grocery stores.

Spotted via Professor Shailey Minocha's Delicious on older people : An informative long blog post about research into older people's needs when learning through MOOCs. The issues raised (e.g. need for clear navigation, not having to turn on captions every single time you play a video in a MOOC) are ones which do not just affect older people but (following the principles of Universal Design) would improve the experience for everyone. Posting a social bookmark to a service like Delicious does not create additional noise for your networked peers in a social network. Remember when someone older than you first got an email account? They probably sent you at least one joke, and it was likely to a long list of recipients. Actually, they probably sent a lot of jokes. There is a similar phenomenon with social media. While it may not be jokes, we are inundated with over-sharing of the same stuff.

The 'illusion of control' is this: people tend to overestimate their perceived control over events in their lives. You assume you are very skilled at choosing apples (when in fact the whole batch happens to be good today).

    [Delicious] PKM in 2013
Using tools like Diigo, or Delicious moves them off a single device, makes them more searchable, and (later) makes them shareable. “The basic unit of social business technology is personal knowledge management, not collaborative workspaces.” ” - Thierry de Baillon. Personal knowledge management (PKM) is a set of processes, individually constructed, to help each of us make sense of our world and work more effectively.

Using tools like Diigo , or Delicious moves them off a single device, makes them more searchable, and (later) makes them shareable. John Stepper discusses how people can get started working out loud and shows examples of different types of networks that one could connect with. It’s very easy to understand, but not quite so easy to do. Most people are too busy managing in the industrial/information age workplace and have no slack to try to learn how work in the network age.

But now designers are looking more closely at core game design principles like design for flow and mastery, blending them with our old friend, ease of use.
