Following on from the massive success of social apps like Facebook and Twitter in the consumer space, over the past couple of years we’ve seen a new wave of social networking tools, such as  Yammer ,  tibbr ,  present.ly , Socialtext and  Salesforce.com’s Chatter hoping to capture similar successes in the enterprise market. Google, however, has produced an app that’s much more suited for use in the workplace by building Google+ around its Circles feature, which enables users to limit the sharing of information to specific groups of people, and by incorporating some very useful built-in collaboration features. They are also very inefficient, which is why services such as Yammer do so well, but email’s extreme standardization makes it ubiquitous, so those are the tools we use.
